ABOUT

Architect / Master Interior Architecture and Retail Design

Nathalia Martinez Saavedra is a Colombian Architect with a minor in Visual Arts graduated in 2009 from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. Her graduation project won the 1st prize in a national competition on Collective Urban and Rural Sustainable Habitats to be developed in a highly floodable area of the Colombian territory.

Via the university she participated in an exchange program with Escola da Cidade in Sao Paulo, focusing her research and design projects on new urban developments. In 2014 she graduated with honors from a two years Master in Interior Architecture and Retail Design at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam.

In her practice as an architect working with photography she bases her research on exploring the structures of built spaces and the different understandings of place that could be achieved through its representations. She uses the photographic works not only as still images, but as part of an extended narrative through juxtapositions and sequencing.

Nathalia's projects reflect a research in urban and cultural context to develop multiple understandings of space, focused on architecture and interior design experiences. She believes in the development of new concepts and efficient space planning based on positive and sustainable solutions to best suit the user's needs.

She is also co-founder at OjodePez, an Architecture Photography studio based in The Netherlands and Colombia. Her work has been published by the international press and on several websites.
